Philippino Presidential Palace

The Presumptive President of the Philippines, Duterte is slated to occupy the Presidential Palace on June 30th 2016. The former Davao mayor who did a
lot of tough talking laced with an abundance of expletives has all along been stepping on a number of toes including those of
international allies like USA and Australia, but he is, perhaps, what the country needs.

The Malacanang palace is the workplace and residence of the President of the Philippines and has been a mute witness to the unfolding history of this enigmatic and
amazing country since 1750 when it was constructed by Don Luis Rocha who was a wealthy Spanish merchant and had aristocratic lineage in his blood; it was originally
meant to be a summer house due to its serene location along the Pasig river.

After its purchase by the government in 1825, it was allotted to the then Spanish Governor General as his summer residence. Occupied all along by the rulers, it has also
been an important structure that housed the rulers of the land, provided them the joys and comforts while also witnessing many of them deposed in a variety of ways.

Things changed and the importance of the Malacanang Palace grew in 1863 when a devastating earthquake destroyed the
official residence of the Governor General which was situated in the walled city of manila.

With this palace becoming his official residence and office, the Governor general shifted to this beautiful summer palace for good.
This palace became his permanent workplace cum residence thereafter.

To welcome the new president to his soon to be home, the Philippines has a committee that takes care of all formalities and preparations so that
all the required arrangements are in place before the new incumbent arrives to a glittering inauguration.

In keeping with the traditional duties assigned to the official members of The Presidential Transition Committee, it has issued instructions
to all departments and agencies of the government to prepare and to submit their reports for the smooth transition of the inauguration by
the end of the month; the compliance report containing the complete details is required to be submitted to the PTC by 31st of may 2016 as informed
by a spokesman of the palace administration on Friday.

The purpose of getting the detailed departmental plans for the transition from one President to another is to ensure that the incoming President and
his teams are able to study the proposed plans and, if necessary, amend them to suit their own tentative plans; the reports which will be
submitted by May ending will provide adequate time for this.

The outgoing President, Benigno Aquino had extended a helping hand to the incoming President and assured them of the Duterte camp of
smooth hassle-free transition Thursday; consequently, Friday saw the Presidential Palace Malacanang issuing an executive order No. 49, which carried
the information of the formation of the Presidential Transition Committee.

The order signed by the outgoing President on Thursday expressed the need to ensure an effective, smooth and orderly transition that is
dedicated to serve the administration and the people of the Philippines.

It was stressed in the executive order that the committees are required to work in close coordination with the representatives of the President
elect so that the process of transition is achieved properly by June ending when the new President and his family move in with all the associated paraphernalia.

It had been announced  by President Aquino that Paquito Ochoa, the Executive Secretary will function as the head of the
Presidential Transition panel that will also comprise the following members:

According to the AO, he will be joined in by:

  1. Emmanuel Esguerra, D. G. NEDA,

  4. Jose Rene Almendras, Secretary, Foreign Affairs,
  5. Rogelio Singson, Secretary, Public Works and Highways, and
  6. Herminio Coloma Jr., Office Secretary, Presidential Communications and Operations.

The Various government agencies will in turn create transition committees in each of their departments and the management staff of the
President will actively coordinate and provide the necessary secretarial services.

The PTC is the nodal agency to oversee all activities closely particularly with regards to government related operations during the transition.

A vital role will also be played in the transition process by some of Duterte’s trusted lieutenants who were included int ehri nown Transition
Committee; those named for this committee are:

  1. Leoncio Evasco, Duterte’s Campaign Manager,
  2. Christopher “Bong” Go, Assistant Manager and Exec. Asstt. Spokesperson,
