It looks like the 2015 if the year of investment scams after numerous fake companies scammed billions of pesos.
Closed investment scams as of August 14, 2015 includes, NBO Global, One Dream Marketing, Facebook E-150, SLMC-Lucena, Martinez Couple Scam, Skyline International Marketing, Upward limited Corp, and numerous others.
Another investment scam, Eleven77 R2AM Road to Success International Co, which some of its owners are now into hiding is allegedly run by some Iglesia Ni Cristo members according to other victims who filed charges against the company.
The said investment company, owned and managed by Iglesia ni Cristo members Marcos Eugenio Tersol a.k.a Mark Tersol (CEO/President), Raquel Cordova (Vice President), Hermie Basco Jr. (Manager), Albert Soriano (Speaker) and a certain Noel Cabuang, enticed their investors by offering an ROI of 20 percent weekly interest of their investments plus free 1kg rice for every 5000 worth of investment.
The company, which began operating in February 2015, also offered its investors a guarantee to pull out once they are already passed the 2 months lock-in period, but to no avail.
Lawyer Albert Rosario and company presenter Herminigildo Basco Jr. are now in police custody after the infuriated investors made a citizen’s arrest on Monday night.
The two suspects met the investors at around 8:45 p.m. in the company’s office at De Oro Building, Sierra Madre Street, Barangay Malamig, in Mandaluyong City, to discuss with them the terms of how the company would return their money.
In their joint complaint affidavit, at least 412 investors suing the company said that it announced on Aug. 4 it was closing shop because it was robbed and its assets “were frozen by the authorities.”
In November 2014, three Iglesia Ni Cristo members were also involved in operating the South Luzon Multipurpose Cooperative (SLMC), an investment scam in Lucena City which amassed hundreds of millions of pesos.
The year of 2015 according to financial experts, is the year of investment scams, because of a number of come-and-go investment scam companies. Most victims are OFWs, government officials, and small business owners.
Authorities warned people especially against those programs that are on the watch list (Global Intergold, Goldxtreme, Success200, among others).
