Top five richest ladies in the world 2016

While the common man toils with back-breaking work to make both ends meet, there are some worthies who are unable to count the amount of money they possess; that is the hard fact of this world.

This job of counting their cash and quantifying their assets to come up with the approximate net worth of the Billionaires of this world is taken up by agencies like Forbes who issue regular assessments with their estimates of the Billionaires.

In fact, even with the loaded billionaires, there is another select club who can be called the crème de la crème or, as we put it, the stone rich; these filthy rich ones are those that own ten-figure fortunes.

Well, for your information there are 1810 of them on this planet out of which 190 are women; last year we had 197 but seven slipped into the nine-figure club or lower.

The reason for this alteration is the death of six women billionaires expired during the last year whole thirty one of them sank below the lower limit as against 27 women advancing and making it to the list of billionaires while a comeback to this distinguished was staged by three others who had fallen by the wayside earlier.

Not really surprising in view of the fact that there is a lot of upheavals and volatility in the global economic scene but, even then, the females make up 10% of the 10-figure holders in the world.

Numero Uno

Leading the list once again as the richest one of them all is Lillian Bettencourt of France; while, she was in the driver’s seat some time ago, a reversal of more than $4 billion cost her the first place as the richest woman in the world on the Forbes list. The slippage was due to the fall of her L’Oreal shares due to market movements which were not favourable to her brand.

In addition, there was also a dent made by many people who were found by a court to have duped the lady who is now 93-years old; these include her photographer and many wealth managers who were implicated by the court in May 2015.

Banier, the photographer, was directed to compensate her with an amount of $ 172 million in damages in addition to serving 3 years in jail; the octogenarian’s family is worth more than $36.1 billion

This time around, she is 11th overall in the Forbes list of the richest people in the world.

The second in the line of the richest ladies is Alice Walton and her family owns the world’s biggest supermarket chain Wal-Mart which was founded in 1962 by her father. The superstore is run by her two brothers but is getting her entitlement as per her inheritance; she is not involved in running Wal-Mart but she fulfils all the other social philanthropic obligations that a family like hers is required to.

No wonder, she made a donation to the Presidential Campaign fund in favour of Hilary Clinton.

The third-richest lady in the world is Jaqueline Mars whose family owns the Candy maker and Pet-food maker Mars; the company was their inheritance following their father’s death in 1999.

Though she and her brothers are not involved with the company, it still has a net worth of $23.4 billion; the revenues ensure that she remains in the top bracket of the richest ladies in the world.

Surprisingly, the fourth-richest lady in the world is also a candy maker from Italy, this time; makes one think – there must be big money in candy-making. But, this one was inherited since the lady in question is the widow of the famous Michele Fererro, the Italian candy maker.

The founder of the Fererro Group left his wife an astounding 22.1 billion when he died on Valentines’ day in 2015; his widow Maria Franca Fissolo is the owner along with her son Giovanni who is the CEO.

The amazing products of this group are:

  1. Tic Tac Mints,
  2. Nutella spread, and
  3. Kinder Chocolates.

Bringing up the fifth spot as the richest woman in the world is Susanne Klatten from Germany whose mother, Johanna Quandt, was the ninth-richest woman for 2015. It is believed that she could come up in the list of the top-rated billionaires amongst ladies.

It is believed that, unknown to her, her mother kept transferring shares to her name; this was revealed only after her death last year.  With $18.5 billion to her name and her brother also a billionaire, she is the fifth-richest lady on earth owning almost half of BMW between the siblings.

Not only that, she has used her knowledge to catapult Altana AG, a chemical and Pharmaceuticals company, to reach $2 billion in sales annually.
